The Brain Train/Clear Light - Black Roses

Forming in 1966 as The Brain Train, these guys played regularly on the Sunset Strip circuit flourishing at the time. 'Black Roses' was released as a single on the Titan label in 1967. The band then signed to Electra Records, changed their name to Clear Light and released a self titled full length album that same year. Clear light included a re-recording of 'Black Roses' which was also re-released as a single. Both met with a lukewarm response in America and the band folded soon after. The album is a bit hit and miss but if you like the music of contemporary labelmates The Doors and Love you should give it a shot. It is also interesting to note that the bands lineup included two drummers.
